RHS YouTube Channel- SSU College Football 25 Dynasty

Hello everyone, I apologize for the absence. I've been working on some YouTube stuff that I guess you would call hypothetical or experimental sports content. The primary thing I've been working on is a series on the video game College Football 25 by EA Sports. I'm taking on the dual-objective of trying to sort out the best alignment for college football as a whole, while also building an underdog program into a national title contender, but placing additional realistic obstacles in the way to increase the challenge. I'm going to use a portion of this blog to send out game previews for when I upload videos. I've attached the link below this blurb and hope you'll find the series entertaining whether you're a diehard football fan, casual viewer, or don't pay attention to the sport at all.

The team I am using is one that I created using the game's online teambuilder function. It is Sonoma State University since that is my and many of my readers' alma mater. We didn't have a football team so it's fun to pretend that we do, and see if we can take them to heights that no other small-program has reached before. If you are a regular consumer of college football 25 content on YouTube I think you'll find over time that this series is different from other one's, and I hope that variance will keep you intrigued. So please enjoy the first game preview as we return to regular content on this blog! note: THE MEDIA OUTLETS AND PERSONALTIES IN THIS ARTICLE ARE GENERATED BY CHAT GPT AND ARE NOT REAL PEOPLE OR MEDIA COMPANIES

Game Preview: Sonoma State at Wyoming

Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025 – War Memorial Stadium, Laramie, WY
By Trent Avila | North Bay Sentinel Staff Writer

LARAMIE, Wyo. — What a difference a year makes.

The Sonoma State Seawolves, once the doormat of the new-look Pac-12, are now 7–3 (3–2 Pac-12) and on the cusp of securing their first winning conference record since their elevation to FBS. They’ll head into the high-altitude chaos of Laramie this Saturday to face Wyoming (3–7, 1–4), a desperate Cowboys squad fighting to avoid relegation back to the Mountain West.

For Sonoma State head coach Calvin Zeljak, this season has been about proving they belong. And Saturday’s matchup might say more about the program’s rise than any game to date.

Relegation Pressure: Wyoming on the Brink

The Cowboys—under second-year coach Tim Burch (10–14 career)—knew the step up from the Mountain West to the Pac-12 would be brutal. Last season they finished 7–7, then punched their ticket to promotion by upsetting a ranked North Texas team in the MWC title game. But in 2025, the growing pains have been severe.

Now sitting 1–4 in conference play, Wyoming’s path to staying up requires either a win this week or next—and for Texas State to lose out. Complicating matters: they already lost the head-to-head to Texas State just one week ago.

Meanwhile, Sonoma State faces both of these teams in consecutive weeks—giving them the unique opportunity to define not just their postseason fate, but who stays and who goes in the conference realignment carousel.

Team Profiles

đŸș Sonoma State Seawolves (7–3, 3–2 Pac-12)

  • Head Coach: Calvin Zeljak (2nd Year)
  • Offense: Coryell Spread
  • Defense: 25 Defense
  • 2025 Rankings:
    • đŸ„‡ 1st – Total Offense (450.8 ypg)
    • đŸ„‡ 1st – Rushing Offense (197.7 ypg)
    • 50th – Passing Offense (253.1 ypg)
    • 🔟 10th – Scoring Offense (35.8 ppg)
    • đŸ„‡ 1st – Rush Defense
    • 131st – Pass Defense
    • 85th – Scoring Defense
    • 87th – Total Defense

Last year’s Sonoma defense was, statistically, the worst in the country. This year? Still flawed, but drastically more fundamentally sound.

While miscommunications and coverage breakdowns have plagued them—especially against tempo—the Seawolves have become elite against the run, leading the nation in rushing yards allowed. The improvement has come from the system's structure: the 25 Defense leans on hybrid linebackers and zone pressure, creating chaos at the line of scrimmage while maintaining integrity against the run.

That said, tempo offenses have exposed their youth and complexity. Quick snaps have led to broken zones and missed switches in coverage, contributing to their second-to-last national ranking against the pass.

Offensively, the Seawolves are nothing short of surgical. The Coryell Spread has taken root, balancing a downhill rushing attack with calculated vertical shots. Behind a rugged offensive line and a deep rotation of backs, they’ve grounded out the nation’s top rushing total—while still averaging over 250 passing yards per game.

đŸ€  Wyoming Cowboys (3–7, 1–4 Pac-12)

  • Head Coach: Tim Burch (2nd Year, 10–14 career)
  • Offense: Pro-Style
  • Defense: 4-2-5 Base

Wyoming entered the year with a throwback mindset—run the ball, stop the run, and grind out wins with physical play. But in a league full of speed and space, they’ve struggled to keep up.

Their best moments have come when they control time of possession, shorten games, and muddy up tempo. The defense plays with effort, but lack of explosive playmakers has left them vulnerable against teams that spread the field and stretch their personnel.

Matchup to Watch: Coryell Spread vs. Wyoming's 4-2-5

Wyoming’s 4-2-5 will be tested vertically and horizontally this week. With the Seawolves’ ability to toggle between spread looks and power sets, the Cowboys must tackle well in space and avoid getting outflanked. Expect Sonoma State to test the edge early, then dial up play-action bombs once the box is loaded.

Altitude, Urgency, and an Opportunity

The stakes couldn’t be clearer. For Sonoma, this is about growth, bowl positioning, and pride. For Wyoming, this is survival. And with Texas State looming next week, the Seawolves could play kingmaker—or executioner—in this year’s relegation race.

Prediction: Sonoma State 38, Wyoming 24

The Seawolves will take a few series to adjust to the Laramie altitude and atmosphere, but once the offense finds rhythm, expect balance to prevail. The Coryell Spread wears down Wyoming’s defense late, and despite a few defensive hiccups, Sonoma’s run defense holds strong when it matters most.

Hearing WR1 Cjay Peeks has been “heavily approached” in the early backchannels of portal talk. Multiple Big Ten teams circling. If true, this might be the last month we see him in a Seawolves uniform. #PortalSeason đŸ§ȘđŸș

Watching film on this Coryell Spread is like flipping through eras—vertical passing trees with shotgun run-game muscle. Sonoma State has something real brewing. Wouldn’t be shocked if more teams adopt this in 2026. đŸ“œïžđŸŒȘ #CoryellSpread
